Psychology is the study of the relationship between behaviour, performance and mental processes. Applied psychology is the application of this knowledge in order to understand events, treat mental health issues, improve sporting performance, and understand how children develop and how to treat criminals. There is a wide range of possible employment
opportunities following further study at degree level.
This Pearson Level 3 BTEC Applied Psychology qualification is equivalent to one A Level.
The course comprises four units including Psychological Approaches and Applications, Conducting Psychological Research, Health Psychology and 1 optional unit selected from Criminal Psychology and Forensics, Psychopathology or Sports Psychology.

You must have 5 qualifications at level 2 /GCSE at grade 4/pass or above including English or Maths.
It is important to note that there is no requirement for candidates to have studied the qualification at Level 2, before progressing to a Level 3 course.

There are a total of four units (three mandatory and one optional). Two of the units are internally assessed and worth 42% of the overall grade. Two units are externally assessed and worth 58% of the overall grade.
Applied Psychology is a good choice to go on to further study in Psychology, Health and Social Care and Education, in careers including Nursing, Occupational Health, Education or Child Psychology, Sport Psychology and Criminology. It is also excellent preparation for those wanting to go into employment in a range of sectors including Mental health, Criminal justice, education or business sectors
